Always nice to get a name check in Variety.
Just finished the English Adaptation of this lovely gorgeous film. Coming soon.
Betty and Veronica cast as actual humans!!! My 13, 14, 15 year old dream has come true, but now as an adult, I’m feeling quite creepy watching the show.
But dang, it’s not quite for kids… or is it? It’s Archie Comics meets Twin Peaks meets the 2000’s. Je suis Jughead!! More of him please. And yes, the hat works! Whoever this every-geek cool dude actor is, he’s got a massive career ahead of him. As yet, we haven’t seen him eat a hamburger, but I’m sure the hamburger eating contest episode is coming, but with someone dying of e-coli. That’s the sort of show it is.
Yup. The new comics have clearly had an impact. Archie screwed his teacher. There’s a dead guy floating in the river, and Moose is experimenting with Kevin on the side. Poor Midge. Meanwhile Veronica’s dad is Bernie Madoff, and Betty is on prescription drugs and might be self harming.
Archie’s wig/hair styling mouse, chinchilla or whatever is going on up there is clearly getting more attention than anyone directing the kid. Clearly there were a lot of meetings about ‘the hair’. It’s different in nearly every scene. They just can’t make up their mind how to Archify it. I’m amazed they didn’t shave a tic tac toe board in the side of his head for a few shots.
But best of all, that Betty has stolen my heart. No wait, I meant to say Veronica. She’s so smooth. Oops. Sorry. Betty has it again. How can I resist that sweet, troubled girl? Look at her, she is clearly a princess who needs saving. But oh my, look at Veronica, she’s so damn confident and cool, and she sneaks in and steals my heart whilst wearing black gloves! Oh girls stop fighting over me! I love you both.
Trust me people I’m watching it not as an adult (ew gross) but with the clinical viewpoint of the 14 year old inside me… who can not believe it’s now all real!
Seriously, people at Archie Comics, what took you all so long to make a live action version? And where were you when I was 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 (we can stop there) years old!?
